Camila DeChalus has joined The Washington Post as a congressional reporter. According to the company, she’s tasked with “a mission of engaging the next generation of Post readers and subscribers.”
She started the new job this week.
DeChalus arrives from Business Insider, where she was a senior political reporter, covering Congress, political campaigns and legal affairs since 2021.
While at Insider, she was part of a team that produced the investigative series “Conflicted Congress” that exposed how many members of Congress face possible conflicts of interest around their investments and stock trades, leading to lawmakers introducing legislation banning individual stock trading. It won a 2022 Sunshine Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
She was previously a homeland security and immigration reporter at CQ Roll Call.
DeChalus is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists.
