WNEU Telemundo Boston has named Abimael Castro weather anchor for the station’s weekday 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 pm newscasts.
He is scheduled to make his on-air debut on Monday, January 9, 2023.
Castro joins Noticiero Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra from KSTS Telemundo 48, where he had been weather anchor for the Bay Area station’s weekend newscasts since April 2021.
Before joining NBCUniversal, he was an associate researcher for the TsunamiReady Program and the National Weather Service in Puerto Rico. He also worked as a research assistant in the Sea Grant program.
Castro previously worked as a weather reporter in Puerto Rico for online news outlets Tu Noticia PR, La Isla Oeste and several radio stations.
He is currently pursuing a meteorology degree at Mississippi State University.
