Telemundo Station Group management today announced new and expanded GM roles for two station managers.
José Flores, currently President and GM of Telemundo 40 in McAllen, will expand his role to include oversight of Telemundo Houston, taking over from Tony Canales, named president and GM of NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 in Dallas-Fort Worth in early January.
Flores was named GM of KTLM in 2014.
Patricia Buchanan will leave her role as VP of Sales for KTMD Telemundo Houston to become the new president and GM of KVDA Telemundo 60 in San Antonio and KASA Telemundo Nuevo México.
She replaces KVDA GM Robert Sarabia, who exited the the Telemundo Station Group earlier this month, as a result of the company’s “reassessment of its businesses,” according to a source. She also picks up oversight of KASA from Canales.*
Buchanan has been VP of sales for KTMD since 2019 and lead KASA’s sales following Telemundo’s acquisition and launch of the station in New Mexico. Over the past three decades, she has held various sales roles with increasing responsibility at KVEA and KNBC. She was also Telemundo Station Group’s Los Angeles-based director of sales.
*Updated to include Sarabia’s exit.
