Sally Ramirez has been named to the newly created role of SVP of News for NBC and Telemundo Chicago, leading news operations for the two NBCU-owned local stations.
The move marks a return home for the Chicago native.
Ramirez joins the stations from CNBC, where she was executive producer of the short-lived news show “The News With Shepard Smith,” canceled in November 2022.
She starts the new role on May 22, reporting to Kevin Cross, president and GM of NBCUniversal Local Chicago.
Diana Maldonado, VP of news for Telemundo Chicago, will report to Ramirez.
Prior to CNBC, Ramirez spent almost five years as executive news director for KHOU-TV in Houston. Before that, she worked at KGW-TV in Portland for 17 years, leaving the station as assistant news director.
Ramirez also held editorial and management roles in several markets, including as executive news producer for Chicago’s WGN-TV.
