Grace Gómez has made the move to English-language news, taking on a new role as reporter and fill-in anchor at New York’s WPIX 11.
She started the job Monday, April 1st.
Gómez left her lead anchor position at Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra in early March to do the crossover.
“Returning to the #1 market to report in English while utilizing my bilingual skillset is a dream come true,” Gómez tells Media Moves. “A decade in the making and many sacrifices along the way but it’s all been worth it for the joy that it is being back in NYC.”
Prior to making her way back home to the New York area, Gómez spent almost 9 years at Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra, joining the station as an MMJ in 2015.
She moved up to anchor for the 5 pm weekday newscast two years later, and was bumped up to lead anchor in 2018. While at the station, she collaborated with NBC Boston, NBC Connecticut, NECN, and for the network’s NBC News Daily.
Before that, she helped launch KBLR Telemundo Las Vegas in 2014 as an MMJ.
Born in Ecuador, Gómez grew up in New Jersey. Before making her way in front of the camera, she started her career as a production assistant for ABC’s The View and also worked at CNBC.
