Telemundo Houston pairs Crystal Ayala and Ingrid Barrera for primetime newscasts

Crystal Ayala - Ingrid Barrera Telemundo Houston

KTMD Telemundo Houston today officially announced a new anchor team for its primetime weekday newscasts.

Crystal Ayala and Ingrid Barrera will lead the 4, 4:30, 5, 10 and 10:30 pm weekday editions of Noticiero Telemundo Houston.

The female duo has already been anchoring together as part of a “soft-run.”

Ayala has been primetime anchor since 2017, first with Martín Berlanga, and later, with Guillermo Ochoa, who left the station earlier this year.

The new team is part of a talent reorganization, following Ochoa’s exit.

Barrera joined Telemundo Houston in November 2017. She was most recently anchor of the station’s 11 am, 4 and 4:30 pm newscasts. In 2021 she helped launch El Break, KTMD’s digital newscast alongside Luis Gerardo Núñez.

Barrera co-anchored the 11 am newscast with Antonio Hernández, who will continue solo for midday show. She shared the desk with Núñez for the 4 and 4:30 pm newscasts. He has since transitioned back to full-time reporter.
