Univision 41 has chosen Adrianna Vargas to lead its newsroom as Vice President of News.
After almost 14 years, she leaves the New York station’s anchor desk. She shared the news on-air with viewers at the end of the 11 pm newscast Friday, September 20, stating “I’m going to step aside and yield the anchor chair to other talents.”
She starts her new role on October 1.
She replaces Luisa Collins, who was ousted in July.
Vargas joined Univision NY as an anchor in 2011. During her time at Noticias 41, she earned multiple Emmy awards, including for Best Anchor, Best Religious & Social Affairs Coverage, and Best Political Affairs Story.
Prior to moving to the U.S., she worked as a spokesperson and International Media Director for Colombia’ President Juan Manual Santos.
Vargas was previously editorial content advisor and news anchor for RCN Television’s NTN24 and RCN Radio.
The station has yet to announce who will replace her on the anchor desk.
