Univision has launched its first-ever true crime program, “C.D.I.” (Código de Investigación).
The show, hosted by Borja Voces, co-anchor of the network’s midday news program “Edición Digital,” premiered on Tuesday, January 14, at 10 p.m.
It’s Univision’s first programming change of 2025, switching the romance and intrigue of its late-night telenovela slot to make way for a show focused on real-life crimes.
According to a company source, a team of about 30 people will be working to produce the weeknight show.
The move comes after a challenging 2024 for TelevisaUnivision, which saw leadership changes, layoffs, the exit of many veteran reporters and talent, the departure of longtime anchor Jorge Ramos, and show cancellations.
Barbara Musa Ruiz, Univision’s VP of Programming Strategy and Scheduling, and Grizeida Roman, the show’s executive producer, addressed the decision to replace the network’s signature novelas and shared their expectations for C.D.I. in a story on Forbes.
