Less than 2 years after moving to Los Angeles, Esteban Creste, VP of News for KVEA-52 and KWHY-22 has parted ways with Telemundo. Wednesday was his last day.
His departure marks the end of a 17-year run with the network. Esteban started with Telemundo as a reporter in New York, before moving up to management, first as Managing Editor, then interim News Director in NYC, before moving to Chicago as News Director at WSNS-44. He was promoted to VP of News in L.A. in July of 2008.
“It was time for a change,” Esteban tells me. “I’m looking for new challenges. After 17 years with the company, I’m grateful to Telemundo for giving me the opportunity to grow.” He admits it was a difficult decision to make, but that leaving was for the best.
“Throughout the years, I have met a lot of wonderful people and made a lot of friends within the company. I plan to keep in touch with all of them.”
During his tenure at the helm of KVEA-52 and KWHY-22, Telemundo network made several rounds of layoffs and eliminated morning newscasts in Los Angeles and other cities around the country.
