He’s baaaack! Dan Ponce, who on January of 2009 left his reporter gig at WLS-7 to pursue a singing career, is returning to the Chicago news scene, although not to his old job. He’ll be back on the air on WGN-9, the Tribune-owned station.
Since he left WLS last year, he went on tour with Straight No Chaser, a 10 man a capella group he co-founded. The group has released 3 CDs and has been performing to sell-out crowds nationwide.
News that he has accepted a general assignment reporter job at WGN is on the group’s website. Apparently, he wants to settle down in his hometown of Chicago now that he’s getting married. He proposed onstage, by the way…
Once he finishes the SNC’s current 8-week engagement in Atlantic City, the group will continue touring without him.
