Former weekend anchor and network correspondent Martín Berlanga is no longer with Univision. His departure has been confirmed.
An insider tells me he cleared out his desk yesterday morning. Moments earlier, he had sent out a tweet promoting his latest story for the network.
Martín had been named weekend anchor in March of last year, after a talent change pulled Enrique Teuteló from the desk. Martín was removed from weekend anchor duty in January to make room for a new team: Félix de Bedout and Lourdes Ramos, who took over at the end of January.
Martín had gone back to being a network correspondent.
Update: Martín sent a tweet at 6:48 pm ET saying he was no longer with Univision after a 17 year run with the company.
He writes: “Gracias por todos sus mensajes me hacen sentir muy honrado, y que todo ha valido la pena. Pronto nos veremos.” — (“Thanks for all your messages. They make me feel proud and that everything was been worth it. See you soon.”)

it’s sad that Univision is letting go people that have been a constant presence in our lives. All these changes from the new management are so in your face and nothing seems the same anymore. Good luck to Martin and we hope to see him in a new channel soon.
The people that built the Despierta America brand are now all gone and we are injected with nothing but T & A and people so plastic and fake that they do not relate to the viewers. I for one stopped watching.

Do you happen to know where he is going next? would be interesting to see if MundoFox, Telemundo or Estrella TV make a move to try to get him….
