Jorge Estevez is leaving his reporter job at Miami’s CBS4 to take an anchor job at Orlando’s independent station WRDQ, Central Florida’s 27. He starts the new gig on June 4.
Jorge will be anchoring the evening newscasts on WRDQ TV 27 at 6:30pm and 10:00 pm and also anchor and report for WFTV Channel 9 Eyewitness News.
Prior to spending 5 years at CBS4 in Miami, he was weekend anchor for WFTV, Orlando’s ABC affiliate and WRDQ’s sister station. Both stations are owned by Cox Enterprises.
“ I am thrilled to be returning to WFTV in Orlando. The Central Florida Television market is very exciting mainly because it is fueled by the passion of so many viewers who find a great value in trusting their local news station. I am lucky enough to be returning to WFTV Channel 9, a place that I called home for 5 years. When I left 6 years ago, I knew I would not only miss the people I worked with, but also the communities I served so proudly for so long.”
Jorge’s first broadcasting job was in New York City as a reporter at News 12 The Bronx, where he was promoted to weekday morning anchor in less than a year.
