Entravision continues its downsizing of news operations. It has now canceled the morning newscasts in all of its stations across the country, laying off most of the talent.
Buenos Días DC, Despierta San Diego, Despierta El Paso and Alegre Despertar in McAllen are among the morning shows affected. Staffers were notified yesterday via phone of the cancellations and that they lost their jobs after the morning shows.
Sources tell Media Moves that among those who lost their jobs are D.C.’s weather anchor Nestor Bravo and sports anchor Daniel Diaz, as well as anchors Victor Acosta and Brenda Reyes in El Paso. Several technical crew members were also laid off at the stations.
Some staffers wistfully bid farewell via social media, posting videos and group photos. “Undoubtedly, a sad day” read one post out of San Diego.
At the time of this publishing, Entravision had not responded to a request for comment.
Earlier this year, the company eliminated local production of several newscasts, hubbing them in other cities, as was the case in Tampa and Albuquerque.

I’m sick i’m tried am angry,to just see people loss their jobs for nothing Entravsion like the next NBCU 2.6 which cancelled Telemundo newscast years ago. They did the same thing cancelled morning only to bring them back 3 years later. Now personality this is a big lost 4 all four of these station so i’m gonna break it down.
WFDC Buenos Dias DC

Washington D.C. and the hispanic market is way to large to just have 6PM and 11PM newscast Monday-Friday. (Thats why Karen Mendez for News Director launched Buenos Dias D.C. and the weekend newscast)

Ad they also share a large hispanic market across the border U.S.-Mexican Border in Tijuana,Mexico San Diego pretty close to Tijuana and Mexico so they get the San Diego stations.
> And Entravision west coast affiliates shipped it’s production of newscast (11PM) to San Diego meaning that all California newscast became a live regional newscast ”Noticias Regional” cancels Univision San Diego 11pm and all other Entravision California stations. It kinda like ”Notices Texas Primera Edition’ a simulcast newscast for all of Univision Communications station in Texas in the morning.

Alegre Despartar
>First I want to say that they also produce a newscast on it Fox doupoly right after Alegre Despartar called ”Good Day Valley” they thought Fox 2 KXOF-TV was affected and they cancelled that. That is an English-Language show
>Luckily have of the staffers at KNVO and KXOF are bilingual so some transferred into KXOF Fox 2 News at 9PM. And some transferred into the 5pm and 10pm and the weekend 5pm and 10pm newscast of ”Noticias Univision Valle Central”
> Still Alegre desperate has had a history of Anchors and Reporters on Both Shows on Both Stations. But this is still a huge lost Alegre Despartar has been on for a decade it came on in 2005. While Fox 2 ”Good Day Valley”a couple year ago too.
