Telemundo is expanding its local news footprint and says it plans to immediately hire 30 employees nationwide to staff the effort.
Starting September 26, the Telemundo Station Group is adding a 30-minute 5 pm weekday newscast to 14 of its stations.
This is the second half-hour expansion in less than two years. Telemundo previously launched a 5:30 pm local newscast in November of 2014, kicking off a hiring spree to staff the new shows.
The new addition means there will be a change to the programming line-up in those stations. The 5 pm newscast will replace “The Best of Caso Cerrado.”
The following Telemundo stations will add the new 5 pm newscast: Telemundo 52 Los Angeles (KVEA), Telemundo 47 New York (WNJU), Telemundo 51 Miami (WSCV), Telemundo Houston (KTMD), Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth (KXTX), Telemundo Chicago (WSNS), Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia (KSTS), Telemundo 60 San Antonio (KVDA), Telemundo Phoenix (KTAZ), Telemundo Tucson (KHRR), Telemundo 40 Rio Grande Valley (KTLM), Telemundo Denver (KDEN), Telemundo62 Philadelphia (WWSI) and Telemundo Las Vegas (KBLR).

Really Telemundo, some of these Telemundo station are currently struggling in the ratings like KSTS (Which was doing tremendous last year, I don’t know what happened but they say with the cancellation of the morning newscast for weekend newscast they say ratings would do better or KBLR (Las Vegas) or KTLM ( Rio Grande Valley) KSTS. I’m also a little happy about this now hour-long extension for 5pm because now from a half-hour to full-hour competition of Univision’s Primer Impacto on most or even all of these markets. The objective hopefully is hispanic will choose Telemundo for Local news instead of a newsmagazine. For KVEA,WNJU,WSNS,WSCV,KTAZ-KHRR,KDEN,WWSI,KXTX,KStS,KTMD its been successful. But all 14 Telemundo station are still behind because WKAQ-TV Puerto Rico is the only NBC-Telemundo Station with a full-fledged 5pm newscast which they’ve had a full hour 5pm for years on weekdays and weekends as of 2014 launch of “Telenoticias Fin De Semana” . which also airs full-hour at 5pm on weekends. I hope these Telemundo stations have great success with this now full-hour 5pm timeslot newscast. Just recently 3 of the 14 of these 14 Telemundo stations english companion launched 4pm newscast, those companion are also owned by NBCUniversal, so I guess this was the spanish-language news extension. Those english-language companion that launched the 4pm newscast was WNBC (TV) New York, KNBC (TV) Los Angeles, WTVJ (TV)Miami, and WViT (TV) Hartford which has no Telemundo Companion in that market. Telemundo is over there its WRMD but it currently has no spanish-language news department and is owned to ZGS Communications.

Gavin, where did you learn to write? You have horrible grammar and sentence structure.
Angel de Dios says
Miguel, are you the grammatical police?
Gavin says
I have dyslexia that means I have problems with reading and writing, say that to someone in the streets they will beat you up, say in my face I will beat you up. Are you supposed to be the “Grammar Police” or the “Grammar EMT” I would like to see your spelling, grammar, and sentence structure when you’re trying to right something down in a paragraph, especially if its thoughts coming out of you head, say it again I’ll report you to Veronica to ban you from the website. I’m trying to be nice and not curse, she already told I can’t say curse words on this site, I tell on you for smack talking me. So better leave me alone.
