Sylvia Obén has started a new job as Houston-based multimedia reporter for Mundo Hispánico.
In addition to covering news about Houston’s Hispanic community, she’s responsible for creating complementary content that drives audience growth on social media.
Sylvia’s hire is part of a digital expansion effort by Cox Media’s Spanish-language Atlanta based weekly Mundo Hispánico, which hopes to grow a national audience.
The publication has been hiring staffers and freelancers in other cities across the country, including San Antonio and Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining the Mundo Hispánico staff, Sylvia worked as a freelance reporter and social media manager for the Houston weekly Semana News.
She was previously a freelance reporter and the social media manager for La Raza newspaper in Chicago. She started her career at Univision Chicago’s creative services department.
