After 26 years with KCBS in San Francisco and a 38-year radio career, Dave Padilla has retired from broadcasting.
His last day was Sunday, December 11.
“It’s been one heck of a ride but it’s time for a change and I am retiring from the business,” said Padilla on the air and in a video posted on Facebook.
Padilla has worked as a reporter and weekend morning anchor for the station since 1990.
A Bay Area native who has always worked in the San Francisco market, Padilla got his start as a news intern at KSOL and made his way up to News Director and Anchor for 12 years, before moving on to KCBS.

OH NO!! What a drag! I will always miss Dave’s rhythmic approach to his dissertations/reports, and I loved the “Rise & Shine” at the top of the hour. KCBS is making huge mistakes lately with their seasoned talent. They should have BEGGED Dave to stay! Dave was AWESOME and now I cannot listen to that Bristow fella from KGO that got the morning spot. Best of luck Dave! You deserve some relaxation time.
