Felicidad Aveleyra will be the anchor of Telemundo network’s new weekday midday newscast.
Her appointment comes three days after the Telemundo officially announced the launch of the noon newscasts on the network and 10 local stations.
“Noticias Telemundo Mediodía” will debut on Monday, January 22 at 12:30 pm.
Aveleyra will leave “Noticias Telemundo Fin de Semana,” which she has co-anchored since joining the network in 2015.
During her two years on the weekend desk, she had three co-anchors: Edgardo Del Villar, Luis Vélez and currently, Julio Vaqueiro.
Vaqueiro will remain as solo anchor of the weekend newscast.
Prior to joining Telemundo network, Aveleyra was weekday news anchor for “Noticias Univisión 34” in Los Angeles.

So, Julio flying solo ? I see, Network saying no to another anchor/hiree/budget. Not even to cover Del Villar headcount either?
Felicidad seems to be one of the few that tries not to appear so biased.
It’s hard since she has to follow the Telemundo line, and you know what that means… “Las cosas como son (para los Democratas/Liberales)”, but at times she tries to analyze a little outside of their playbook.
She does look very nice and I like her voice and presence. Will miss seeing her with Vaqueiro, although to be honest with you I can’t watch Telemundo news too much these days even with Vaquiero, since it’s always so biased when it comes to politics and their editorial choices…

I’m happy for her, I was expecting maybe Jessica Carrillo or Chique Sales would be the anchor of this new broadcast. but its good, I mean a lot of people don’t like Felicidad in my view she kinda the quiet girl at Noticias Telemundo. now I think she’s alright, the only thing I don’t like about her is that her voice sounds like a winner or like she has her hands in her nose. Also what I’m also not sitting very well on is that Julio will now be solo anchoring Noticias Telemundo Fin De Semana, I don’t like the idea of that. I think that he’s better with a co-anchor, I know there trying to be like NBC and the other “Big Three” networks specifically like NBC’s NBC Nightly News which Noticias Telemundo trying to be like, but I like it traditional Spanish way two anchors heading the national newscast, you don’t see that very much in English-Language . So please give Julio a female co-anchor to replace Ayelera on the weekends.

He is a fine gentleman, but too boyish to drive such bus by himself. Credibility is also image in this TV world.
About hiring him a co ancbor, that remains to be seen.
Telemundo has invested too much money for new stations and its personnel, mostly in the low range of salaries.
Big wages are not a priority now for programming already established.
