Emmy Award-winning journalist Cecilia Vega is leaving ABC News to join CBS News as a correspondent for 60 MINUTES.
Bill Owens, executive producer of the legendary news magazine made the announcement today.
Vega will begin reporting for 60 MINUTES in the spring.
She’ll continue to be based in Washington, D.C.
Vega, who was promoted to ABC’s chief White House correspondent in 2021, and anchored several broadcasts, including Good Morning America and the Saturday edition of World News Tonight, joined the network in 2011 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent.
In a statement provided by CBS, Vega said of the move: “This is a dream come true. I am beyond honored to join the ranks of this legendary show and to work alongside the best reporters in journalism.”

I used to run into her when I worked for Univision in San Francisco and she worked for the San Francisco Chronicle. I asked why she didn’t try TV news. Whatever triggered her decision to cross over, I am glad she did.
