Telemundo has confirmed Adamari López is departing Hoy Día, where she had been on of hosts of the network’s three-hour morning show for the past 11 years.
The Puerto Rican host and actress joined the early morning program in 2012, then called Un Nuevo Dia.
The show, which has gone through 6 name changes in 16 years, underwent at least two revamps and numerous talent changes during Lopez’s tenure.
News of her exit came as a surprise, as the network had included her in a press release just a day earlier, announcing the extension of Hoy Día for a fourth hour, starting next Monday, April 10, listing her as one of the hosts.
Telemundo released the following statement today, Thursday about her departure:
“After 11 years with Telemundo, Telemundo and Adamari Lopez have mutually agreed this is an appropriate time for her to leave her role as host of Hoy Día. Adamari has been an integral part of Telemundo’s mornings for more than a decade, helping US Hispanics jump start their day with her lively and charming personality. She is a multi-faceted and highly talented television host who has been part of numerous network specials and shows, always bringing her charisma, authenticity and charm to connect with and serve our audience. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and unwavering dedication to Telemundo and hope to collaborate with her on future projects.”
Lopez has yet to comment publicly about her unexpected exit.

Wow, I didn’t expect Adamari López to leave Hoy Día. I will definitely miss her presence on the show. I wish her many blessings. She represented us Puertorican well. Now the show does not have anyone from Puerto Rico!! I guess I won’t be watching anymore. Sorry, Telemundo but until I don’t see someone representing us Puertoricans, I will watch something else. To no fault of the new hosts, her energy hadn’t been the same on the show since Stephanie Himonidis and a few others left. She seemed to just go with the motions. I wish her all the best and hope to see her again soon.

The Telemundo management is completely out of reality and does not understand the audience and their feelings regarding the different hostesses that they had let off. I am not going to see that show anymore. She was the best person of the show. She has not been in the show that often anymore. They just put cooking recipes. I was so Proud of having Adamaris López in the Hoy Dia. I will always be proud of her. However, your program is not going to be a proud program to watch anymore. Why wasn’t she on the show to say goodbye ? She was on vacation for 2 weeks, came back for a few days to exit the show. Something is fishy. Without a reason why she left. I feel if she had another job offer it would of been said. Hoy dia probably didn’t want to renew her contract or pay her more money

Que pena, discrepar con todos pero ya era hora de que Adamaris salga del programa, la ponían hasta en la sopa, eso ya cansaba. Y no aportaba en nada. This is not good they have to go back to doing to hard news we don,t want to see entertainment that is boring to audience in the morning and revamp that program back to the news division since lopez departure but they need to find hosts again this time to revamp it back to hard news comparable to Today Again and what next en casa con telemundo might cancelled next and more changes

I personally believe the show’s ratings have gone down thru the years because Telemundo makes way too many changes, there is no team of staff that has been persistent/kept at the show and for the audience. I loved Adamari, was saw to see people being let go and only for people with no experience being put on, with the exception of Penelope Menchaca. However, the new ex Miss Universe, Chiquibombom, the actor and the presenter from Exatlanton don’t really connect with me. So, I will either watch Despierta America in Univision or another morning show but in English!

This news! Came to a total surprise. I have seen many top TV hosts leaving this program. I have to say little by little my interest on the Chanel has diminish. It won’t be the same and definitely ends an era of wonderful Hispanic hosts that truly made a difference and brought continuity and quality in this country. Se ha vuelto un show totalmente aburrido, y tambien las nuevas personas son fatales en el hablar espanol. No son profesionales, y de verdad suenan tan horrible. Telemundo had promised Ms. Lopez a 4-hour show a few days before and when she arrived to the station very happy for her new show they informed her that her contract was not going to be renewed. It is very sad that after 11 years of dedication and excellent JOB PERFORMANCE that they let her go, but there are other channels that are claiming Ms. Lopez already .
