Chris Peña is no longer with Univision.
Peña, who joined the company in 2016 as SVP of News of the local media division, announced on social media his last day was Friday, September 8.
He had been in charge of overseeing local news operations and strategy for the station group.
In his Instagram post, Peña lauded his team, crediting the “amazing photographers, producers, writers, meteorologists, anchors, reporters and production crews” and station news directors for allowing him to enjoy his job and make him feel “part of the family.”
Peña did not respond to a Media Moves query about his post-Univision plans at the time of this publication.
His departure comes a week after TelevisaUnivision rehired Daniel Coronell as president of Univision News.

Disaster that will be back in no time, so don’t get your hopes so high so much so quick.
Is part of our nature, to be second class on and for everything, a joke. And a bad one.
As for Mr. Come Back Daniel, this time his reasons are way different and too personal to be aired on in here. But he has never been a problem solver and won’t start at this stage in his life. So again, those hopes are to be shot down, again.

WE never want to wish anyone negative things… BUT while I saw many comments on social media thanking Chris Pena he was not a nice person.
He did cancel digital projects at Univision 23 and was not a leader to many employees that were top talents with much richer resumes than Chris himself. I know several employees that went to him with projects and looking for help and were turned away.
Finally, Univision makes a smart decision but there are still many including the main anchor at Univision 23 that need to go . The network also needs to clean house with Maria Martinez and Arianna Requena who have been there way too long creating a high school like atmosphere. Wake up call!

Kissing @ss at the end to the crew means nothing when people truly know what they had to endure during all those years he worked at Univision. Hopefully Coronel will get rid Peña’s flying monkeys too because they were his enablers who carry out the abuse because they know they were always protected. We need new blood with new and fresh ideas.

Although Coronell was and won’t be Maná del Cielo, in fact, he carries a ton of toxic luggage along, we can all agree that Peña was a painful disaster for our operations. Now, due this past weekend announcement as for Daniel also managing the stations, now we all know that the Peña Affair was not him quitting. Along with his both, they were both fired in order to save some dollars. Peña had always wanted to go back to NBC with a bigger title so, both NBC and Telemundo, get ready.
