Voice of America’s acting director Yolanda López told staff in an email she is departing the news agency at the end of September.
López, who has been in her current role for two and half years, is leaving for a yet to be announced position. She has spent more than eight years at VOA as director of the VOA News Center and Latin America Division Director.
Her past experience includes roles as news director at Univision Chicago and executive producer at Univision Los Angeles.
John Lippman will step into her acting director role. He has been VOA’s acting director for programming for the past two-and-a-half years.
Since joining the U.S. Agency for Global Media in 2009, Lippman has held various leadership positions, including VOA Deputy Director of Programming, Acting Director of USAGM’s Office of Performance Review and Acting General Manager of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting.
He previously spent 14 years as SVP of News and Operations of the Univision Station Group, following news director roles at KCBS Los Angeles and KIRO TV in Seattle.
