Telemundo Chicago’s VP of News Diana Maldonado is leaving the station after almost 14 years.
Company sources confirm her last day is this Friday.
There’s no word yet on whether she’ll transition to another role within Telemundo or leave the company.
Maldonado has led the newsroom since 2010, starting out as news director. She was promoted to VP of News two years later.
Earlier this year, on-air talent and producers voted to unionize, making the Spanish-language station a SAG-AFTRA and NABET shop.
Prior to becoming news director at WSNS, Maldonado was an executive producer for Telemundo network based in Miami.
She began her career at Univision’s WGBO in her home town of Chicago.

This woman was like a mean wolf disguised as an innocent and sweet sheep that could do no wrong. The moral at that station from what has been said was so low that people often contemplated leaving and some actually did because of her poor management and people skills. Hopefully now they can all get back to a more humane working environment. That is why they voted the union in and it was about time!

14 years is a lot.
Meaning ,was she the Wolf that the Brass needed then ?

She excelled in budgeting and salary negotiations, leading to substantial cost savings for the company. It’s astonishing to realize how meager the compensation for on-air talent is at Telemundo Chicago. The hiring of executive producers was a turning point that sparked the onset of issues and their subsequent opposition towards her.

Ding dong…

She was a simple puppet for those who run the Telemundo Stations and who are all against the union, so she is probably paying for allowing the union to come in and represent her workers who are all underpaid and exploited for her benefit. Bye Felicia

She played a significant role in various matters at Telemundo Chicago, establishing connections with individuals of questionable character and adeptly exerting her influence over the human resources and the entire team to enhance her own authority. Her presence had a negative impact, accompanied by a group of unsavory individuals. I am pleased to report that she is no longer employed with us, which will allow other members of the company to flourish and progress. It is possible that some weather anchors may leave as they were under her sway, and it is undeniable that she possessed a manipulative nature. Several exceptional camera operators are no longer with us because she orchestrated their departure through a buyout, having listened to many ill-informed individuals whom she later regretted assisting. Let us now observe what the weather has in store for you!

This lady was the worst thing that happened to Telemundo Chicago. One current producer and another former producer had nervous breakdowns because of her tactics of terror. A reporter that left a few years ago was under so much stress that she went straight from a live shot to a mental health clinic. Great talent never got a chance to grow and ended up leaving the station, the company and even the business; while talent that cursed on set, bashed the team and were disrespectful to producers were never disciplined. She was a micromanaging freak and was known for her “might is right “ approach and for blocking those who wanted to leave to other markets. I was glad when I left and I hope she never ever is allowed to set foot in a newsroom because this woman is toxic as cyanide and fun to be around as an STD!

This individual’s actions were truly deceptive and harmful. She shattered numerous television dreams. It is my sincere wish that individuals share their experiences to reveal the kind of “management” she practiced.
