Wendy Corona was laid off from KPRC-2 in Houston. She was the 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. anchor.
The station’s news director told the Houston Chronicle Wendy’s departure “was an economic decision” and that her position on the payroll won’t be filled. Instead they’ll be juggling other news talent until they determine who the permanent replacement will be.
Wendy had been at the NBC affiliate since April 2006. Before that, she anchored the morning and noon news at WPLG-10, the ABC affiliate in Miami. She has previously anchored and reported in California, Arizona, and Texas.
