In an example of company synergy and program cross-promotion, NBC’s newsmagazine “Dateline” is expanding its reach to Telemundo.
Hosted by Noticias Telemundo anchor Julio Vaqueiro, “Dateline” will debut Spanish-language episodes on Telemundo, airing weekly on Saturdays at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
The premiere episode airs this Saturday, February 15.
This marks the first time the newsmagazine has fully translated episodes into another language, offering viewers a new way to experience the true crime original’s distinctive storytelling. NBC did start captioning the program in Spanish in 2011.
Saturday’s broadcast, titled “Un Largo Camino,” explores how a determined investigator and prosecutor in Orange County solved a 20-year-old murder case, despite the perpetrators believing they had buried their secrets forever.
The translated episodes introduce Telemundo’s audience to the True Crime genre.
This programming move comes just a month after Univision launched its own weeknight true crime show, “C.D.I.” with Borja Voces.
